It is a weedy medicinal plant. There are 3 species in the world but 1 in Turkmenistan. Herb of the plant is provided for medicinal purposes. The raw material is gathered, dried and kept by traditional methodology. The plant contains about 20 vitamins including vitamin A, C, PP, D,K oxalic, citric and malic acids, and also proteins, fats, carbohydrates, iron, copper, zinc, iodine, potassium, calcium, phosphor and other trace substances, mineral salts.From the earliest ages Spinacia turkestanica is considered to be very useful as an article of food or as a medicine. Abu Ali Ibn Sina described the medical properties of the plant in his book “Canon of medical science”. The juice of the plant is prescribed in diarrhea, shortsightedness, anemia and avitaminos.
