FERULA GUMMOZA

Ferula Gummoza is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Umbelliferae family 100-200 cm hing. monokarpic. It blooms and fruits in May-June. Roots and stems of the plant are provided for medicinal purposes. Green leaves of Ferula gummoza contain much proteins, a few fats, traces of ash, saponins, cellulose. The roots and stems contain also resins and ethers. Galbanic acid also enters into the composition of the plant. In Turkmen folk medicine roots of the Ferula gummoza are of great service in the treatment of catarrh of the upper respiratory tract and pneumonia. In Indian folk medicine resin of the plant called “galbanum” acts as a wholesome and expectorant; it is administered in bronchial astma, chronic bronchitis, hysteria, paralysis, gastritis, amenorrhea, skin diseases and rheumatism.
