Humlar

One of the special values of the Ak Bugday National Museum named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great of Turkmenistan, located in the town of Annau of Ahal region, are the jugs (hums). Large hums found during excavations from monuments in the territory of Ahal region and from the territories of ancient Merv-Gyavurgala are very amazing and ancient. On their outer surface there are various “lumpy and ribbed” patterns. In ancient times, hums were used to store grain crops, especially grain, and some of them were buried in pits. Hums date back to II century BC to XVIII-XIX centuries. We are infinitely grateful to the Hero Arkadag, Esteemed President Arkadagly Serdar for the opportunities created for the development of Turkmen science in the Renaissance, as well as for the study of the culture, history of our people and its dissemination in the world.
